ToggleThe Rooftop at Exchange Place in Jersey City stands as a hidden gem for weddings, offering an unparalleled combination of vibrant city views and serene waterfront surroundings. Positioned on the banks of the Hudson River, the venue frames the stunning Manhattan skyline, with views that stretch from the Empire State Building to the towering skyscrapers of Lower Manhattan. The sparkling river below adds a peaceful touch, while the skyline provides an energetic backdrop that perfectly complements the atmosphere of a wedding celebration. Rhidhi and Anchit’s wedding on this rooftop captured the essence of the venue’s beauty. Natural light bathed the space, creating a timeless feel as the couple exchanged vows. With the expansive city skyline as their backdrop, the ceremony felt intimate yet grand, an unforgettable moment for both the couple and their guests.
The rooftop’s glass-enclosed room offers the best of both worlds. It provides the open, airy feeling of an outdoor event while protecting guests from unpredictable weather. During the day, the natural light pours in, enhancing the bright, modern design of the venue. As night falls, the city lights add a touch of magic, making the space feel even more special. The sleek, contemporary design of the venue complements its stunning views, creating an elegant yet comfortable atmosphere. The neutral tones and clean lines of the space allow couples to personalize the setting to match their vision. Whether enjoying the skyline from the inside or taking in the waterfront breeze, the venue provides a beautiful, versatile backdrop for any wedding celebration.
When I first heard from Rhiddi and Anchit, it was clear their wedding would be something truly special. They envisioned an intimate day filled with meaningful traditions and shared moments with their closest loved ones. The décor reflected their cultural heritage and personal style, blending traditional Indian elements with modern elegance. Floral arrangements in soft pinks and whites created a romantic, serene atmosphere throughout the venue. Lush roses, greenery, and delicate florals adorned the ceremony space, while the ornate mandap stood as a stunning centerpiece. The pink and white color palette added a soft, ethereal touch, perfectly complementing the vibrant textiles and intricate details that honored their heritage. The result was a beautiful fusion of tradition and contemporary elegance, making every detail feel personal and timeless. The atmosphere was warm and intimate, with every corner radiating the couple’s love and the significance of their day.
Rhiddi started her wedding day in the bridal suite, surrounded by her closest friends and family. The room buzzed with excitement and energy as everyone helped prepare for the big day. Her bridal party supported her, ensuring every detail was perfect. The makeup artist worked carefully, enhancing Rhiddi’s natural beauty with traditional Indian bridal makeup. Soft tones highlighted her features, while bold accents gave her a stunning, timeless look. Her intricate henna designs adorned her hands and arms, the deep, dark patterns contrasting beautifully against her glowing skin. The delicate artistry of the henna added a touch of tradition, making her feel even more connected to her heritage. The air in the room felt magical, as Rhiddi’s transformation into a bride was almost complete.
Meanwhile, Anchit was also preparing for his moment. He donned a classic sherwani made of luxurious fabric and detailed embroidery. The rich colors and intricate designs reflected both his personal style and cultural tradition. Anchit’s attire added a sense of grandeur to the day, highlighting his pride in his heritage. As he adjusted his turban and checked his look, the anticipation built, and both Rhiddi and Anchit eagerly awaited their special moment. The wedding day had officially begun, and everything felt just right.
Before the ceremony, the couple shared a private first look. These moments are always some of my favorites to photograph. There’s something so pure and emotional about the first time a couple sees each other on their wedding day. When Anchit turned to see Rhiddi, his face lit up most genuinely. You could feel the love and excitement between them as they embraced and took in the moment, with the foggy skyline softly framing their joy.
One of the most joyful parts of any Indian wedding is the baraat, and Anchit’s was no exception. Surrounded by his family and friends, he made his grand entrance with vibrant music and dancing. Even in the misty, warm weather, the One Exchange Place in Jersey City rooftop added a special touch to the celebration. The fog gave the whole scene a surreal and dreamy feel, making the city skyline appear as though it was floating in the background. Anchit’s loved ones danced with pure joy and excitement, bringing so much energy to the day. The entire baraat was filled with lively colors, and the happiness on everyone’s faces was infectious.
Capturing the energy of the baraat is always such a thrill. The combination of lively music, dancing, and stunning surroundings created a perfect blend of tradition and modern elegance. It was one of those moments where everything just came together in harmony, and it couldn’t have been more beautiful.
Rhiddi and Anchit’s ceremony took place on the One Exchange Place rooftop under a beautifully adorned mandap. Soft pink and white florals surrounded them as they exchanged vows, with the skyline serving as a breathtaking backdrop. Despite the foggy weather, there was a calmness and warmth that made the whole day feel cozy and intimate.
Indian weddings are so rich with tradition, and every ritual during their ceremony is filled with deep meaning. From the exchanging of garlands to the sacred tying of the knot, every step of the way symbolized the joining of their families and their journey together as partners. What stood out most was the love and connection between Rhidi and Anchit. They couldn’t stop smiling at each other, their laughter was contagious, and every glance they shared was filled with so much warmth. It was heartwarming to witness.
The intimate nature of the ceremony brought everyone in attendance closer, and you could feel the love and support of their guests. It was one of those moments where you can’t help but feel the love radiating in the room.
Rhiddi and Anchit’s hands were gently tied together as a symbolic gesture of their marriage. Their union was cemented by a Hindu ritual known as “Hast Melap” which involves the family blessing the couple with sacred leaves. They then arranged onto a tapestry, every leaf carefully placed signifying blessings, love, and support from well-wishers. Beyond being an indication of the physical bond of their relationship, this hand binding also represented the blending of two families thus enveloping Rhidi and Anchit in love and blessings as they embarked on their journey together.
During the consultation, Rhiddi and Anchit expressed a desire for a quiet moment alone after their wedding ritual ceremony. They wanted a brief escape to reflect on their day and the significance of the moment. Honoring their wishes, we carved out a peaceful time for them to step away from the bustle of the celebration. In that brief moment, they found a quiet space to reminisce on the day’s emotions and the new chapter they were beginning together. The stillness allowed them to soak in the magnitude of the occasion, sharing a private, emotional moment before rejoining their loved ones. It was a beautiful and intimate time that captured the essence of their love and the significance of the commitment they had just made. This moment of escape not only gave them time to connect but also added a layer of depth and sentiment to their celebration, making it even more meaningful.
Filled with laughter, dancing, and delicious Indian cuisine, the One Exchange Place in Jersey City rooftop venue continued to offer stunning views of Jersey and New York throughout the Indian wedding. Making this scenery the perfect backdrop for their occasion.
Instead of a formal reception, Rhiddi and Anchit opted for a simple, intimate gathering with their family and friends after the ceremony. They wanted to keep things personal and relaxed, spending quality time with their loved ones in a setting that felt true to them. The rooftop provided the perfect space for this, with its cozy yet modern ambiance creating an ideal backdrop for everyone to mingle and enjoy each other’s company.
There’s something so special about these quieter moments. I loved capturing the laughter, the hugs, and the genuine conversations between Rhidi, Anchit, and their guests. These are often the memories that stick with us the most—the shared stories, the candid smiles, and the moments of connection. It felt like a true celebration of love and family, and I was honored to be there to document it.
