Nestled on the grounds of a century-old estate, the Duke Sculpture Garden has spent decades nurturing Pennsylvania’s artists. The grounds are an eclectic mix of modern and vintage. A castle turret stands just feet away from iron sculptures crafted by current artists. This space is ready to give you your fairytale wedding, no matter what that looks like!
With Dixon Mansion, you will have indoor and outdoor spaces for each part of your wedding. On the morning of your wedding, you will be shown to the dressing room, where you can put on all the finishing touches. For your ceremony in the Duke Sculpture Garden, you can place your altar near the turret for a storybook-like setting. The area is located in the midst of a meadow surrounded by lush woods with different sculptures tucked across. Once your ceremony is over, your guests will get the chance to explore the grounds. The venue will let you host your cocktail hour outside in the Sculpture Garden, followed by your reception. They will offer the interior of the mansion as a backup plan in case it rains. While the venue can hold up to 225 guests, it’s best for micro weddings and intimate celebrations!
With this venue, the gardens are perfect for your portraits. During the golden hour, it becomes particularly magical as the sun starts its descent beneath the trees. Sharing a kiss inside the turret is an absolute must!
The crew at the Dixon Mansion will absolutely spoil you throughout your day! They have event planning and rental services, plus they will handle set-up and clean-up. You will be able to work with their in-house catering and bar team for your menu. They’ll also handle the necessities like chairs, tables, and flatware.
As a wedding photographer, I have gotten the chance to work at the mansion for a surprise engagement proposal. Truly, it was the perfect location for an iconic moment. It started out when the soon-to-be-groom suggested going on a date to the location with his girlfriend. What she didn’t know was that the entire thing had been carefully orchestrated. When they arrived, they met with a “teacher of the ground” (me!) who said she wanted to photograph a couple in the area to promote events. We walked around the grounds taking pictures.
Then, when we arrived at the towers, he proposed. Of course, she said yes! He played some music, and then we went inside, where you could instantly smell the sweet fragrance of food. Earlier, I had explained that it was a cultural day and that we had just made Indian food. This was another fib. In truth, all their friends were hiding in the back, ready to celebrate. We had the best night ever, snapping pics and raising a toast to the newly engaged couple.
If you are looking for a unique spot for your engagement or wedding, the Duke Sculpture Garden at Dixon Mansion is an absolute dream. Now, you just need a photographer to help you capture it. If you think I might be your match, I would love to connect! Send me a message today so we can get the conversation started!
